The findings of our research “Trauma team activation criteria and outcomes of geriatric trauma: 10 year single centre cohort study” was reported by Mingpao on the 26th August 2018.   【明報專訊】有研究發現本港長者在兩米或以下、即低處跌倒受傷的個案,10年間由42宗急升至222宗,升幅逾4倍,其中70歲或以上低處跌倒者的死亡率近18%。研究指人口老化,長者受傷增加,建議注意家居安全,並加強他們的關節及肌肉訓練,減少跌倒。 上述研究將刊於醫學期刊The Amercian Journal of Emergency Medicine。中文大學意外及急救醫學教研部助理教授洪磯正及其團隊,研究威爾斯親王醫院2006至2015年有關老人創傷的數據,參與研究的中大客座助理教授楊曉紅說,低處跌倒受傷是指由兩米或以下如由牀、椅、梯級跌倒受傷。 是次研究共涉2218名病人,在1197名55至70歲的人中,低處跌倒受傷者有397人,其中90人死亡,死亡率達7.5%;餘下1021人為70歲以上,最大109歲,當中702人低處跌倒受傷入院,180人死亡,死亡率達17.6%。研究顯示,該10年間低處跌倒受傷病人數量升4倍,由2006年的42宗升至2015年的222宗。 楊曉紅稱,人口老化令長者受傷數字上升,而腦部會隨年紀漸老而萎縮,長者頭骨會變得脆弱,容易引致腦出血,很多長者因心臟病等長期病患,需服薄血丸,此藥會抑制肝臟製造凝血因子,令傷口較難痊癒,加上長者新陳代謝慢,受傷後需較長時間復元。 夜尿頻 半夜上廁易跌倒 楊解釋,本港愈來愈多長者獨居,但他們大多身體機能退化,視力及聽力不太靈敏,夜間亦較多尿頻,很多長者半夜上洗手間時跌倒,加上無人及時處理而令情况惡化。楊提醒獨居長者的寓所要保持乾爽及有足夠照明,最好安裝扶手等設施。 她又說,人步入中年後身體機能逐漸退化,肌肉萎縮與肌肉力量變弱,平衡力及反應能力下降,增加跌倒及骨折風險,建議長者多做伸展運動,令關節較靈活,減少跌倒,而多活動可令長者生活不太沉悶,對身心及腦部亦有益處。 明報記者 曾映妹 PDF version Original article
